Model 32 Chair by Kai Kristiansen

Designed by Kai Kristiansen for KS Møbler during the 1960s, the Model 32 represents a masterclass in Danish Modern functionalism. Trained under Kaare Klint at the Royal Danish Academy, Kristiansen brought a cabinetmaker’s precision to the chair’s sculptural form, resulting in a piece that balances technical rigor with elegant, human-centered proportions.

The design’s hallmark is its pivoting backrest, providing subtle ergonomic movement within a sharp, architectural silhouette. By marrying this mechanical innovation with clean geometry and refined joinery, Kristiansen created a chair that is as comfortable as it is visually light—a testament to the restrained sophistication of the golden age of Danish design.

Originally conceived as a dining chair, this single Model 32 will blend effortlessly into dining settings, desk use, or as an occasional chair.
