Hand-Knotted Persian Harsin Kilim
This mid-century Harsin kilim rug originates from Kermanshah in western Iran, a region known for its deeply rooted tribal weaving traditions. Unlike pile rugs, kilims are flatwoven, resulting in a lighter, more flexible textile that emphasises pattern, texture, and structure.
Harsin kilims are characterised by their bold geometric motifs, often arranged in repeating forms that reflect a visual language passed down through generations. The palette typically draws from natural dyes - earthy reds, warm browns, vibrant blues, and soft neutrals - creating a grounded, organic presence within a space.
Woven entirely from wool, this piece offers both durability and versatility. Its flatweave construction makes it well-suited to a variety of settings; centred in a living room, layered over larger rugs, draped across furniture or hung as a wall textile, adding warmth, texture, and character without overwhelming a space.
At Zadi & Zadeh, we value objects that embody craftsmanship and cultural continuity. A Harsin kilim rug carries a quiet authenticity - its irregularities and variations speaking to the human hand behind its creation - making it equally at home in contemporary and traditional interiors.
